AU REVOIR MON VISAGE

“Au Revoir Mon Visage” is a performance written and performed by Cécile di Giovanni and Mathilde Fernandez. It was presented on April 6, 7, and 8, 2018, as part of the Do Disturb festival at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris, France). Mathilde Fernandez and Cécile di Giovanni were invited by “L’Institut d’Esthétique”: Emile Degorce-Dumas, Vincent Voillat, and Haily Grenet.

"Everything that is alive must die, and you will also die no matter what you do, yet there is no beauty in letting time take its course.

From the myth of the Fountain of Youth to recent studies on blood transfusion, Cécile di Giovanni and Mathilde Fernandez together explore the question of eternal youth. In a form of soliloquy, the main character harbors many others, their sole purpose: to extend themselves. Faust, Erzebeth Bathory, autotune moans, frozen features, love within, time continues its race: the devil is my ventriloquist."
